Allen Hayes writes: " Monica Silva
was an accomplished Santa Clara potter married into Santo Domingo Pueblo.
She made pottery into the 1950s in both Santa Clara and Santo Domingo
styles, and, we're told, managed to annoy the elders of both Pueblos by
making pottery in both places that crossed traditional lines. This
important olla has Santo Domingo designs and a fine Santa Clara deep black
finish."
