About Us

Traditional Pueblo Arts  was born online in 1998, and moved into it's first bricks-and-mortar location in 2002, where it shared a very beautiful shop with River Trading Post in Scottsdale.  Five years later, Pueblo Arts and River Trading Post moved to a wonderful new shop on Main Street in between Marshall Way and Goldwater Blvd.  Pueblo Arts specializes in American Indian pottery.  It is owned and managed by Kathi Ouellet.  Kathi represents both Pueblo Arts and River Trading Post in Scottsdale, and has been a judge for the Heard Museum Guild, an avid participant in the Scottsdale American Indian Art Association, the Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Scottsdale Gallery Association.

Traditional Pueblo Arts is dedicated to offering the collector the very finest traditionally made art works created solely by tribally enrolled American Indians.  Often, these works are  innovative and fresh -- traditionally made but designed with a contemporary flare.  Other works appear to be timeless, the designs passed along for generations or inspired by the art of the ancients.

We carry art for the serious collector as well as the novice, and we are happy to assist you in your selection.  We want to bring you affordable art that will grace your home with it's beauty while increasing in value over time.

Whenever possible, we obtain works directly from the artist to support the artist and his or her family, as well as assure its authenticity.  We support those who have a reverence for the past, and encourage them to carry the traditions into the future. We respect and cherish the people, their art and their history.

Unless otherwise noted, all pottery is hand-coiled, signed by the artist, and made in the traditional way.  We do not use floor wax or other polishing agents on our pottery, nor are photos touched up to disguise defects.  Each piece is maintained respectfully in its natural state.

Buying & Selling

For your protection, please do not email your credit card  information or send cash through the mail.

Payment may be made by check, money order, cashier's check, or credit card.  American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Discover Cards are accepted.  (Personal checks will be held for 3 business days or until cleared prior to shipping for first-time customers.)  Call us toll free at 1-866-395-9426 to place your order.

We occasionally buy and/or consign pottery or other Native-made artworks from Private Parties and estates.

We always have an interest in purchasing or consigning Native-made hand-coiled pottery.  We will work with you to determine if we can help you sell your pottery or if there is a better sales venue for you.  We do not, however, give appraisals or evaluations over the phone, nor do we evaluate pottery for sale on eBay or from other galleries.  We feel this is only fair.

Contact us for details.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us.

Your contact information is stored for our use only, and will never be given or sold to a third party.  We do not send spam or other mass emails, and we will not call you unless you specifically request that we do so.  Our way of communicating with our clients and friends is via our own in-house newsletter called the "Trading Post Times" which is produced and mailed quarterly.  We may also send you postcards from time-to-time announcing a special show or party -- all through US mail.

If you do not want to receive our newsletter or other announcements, please just let us know and we'll take you off our mailing list immediately.  Please make sure to give us your name, city and state in your request so we can verify that we have removed the right person from our list.

Layaway

Use our convenient Layaway Plan free of charge!

We know that beautiful art is a luxury and not a necessity (although some might argue otherwise...) and cash isn't always available when the object of your desire is!  So, we've have a layaway plan that is simple, convenient, and has no extra costs or fees

  • The minimum price of an item eligible for layaway is $500.
  • Full payment must be received within 90 days and regular payments must be received at least every 30 days.
  • A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total layaway amount is required.
  • If the order is cancelled for any reason, or if payment terms are not met, the layaway agreement will be cancelled and the item returned to stock.
  • If the agreement is cancelled, any credit balance remaining in the buyers account--above and beyond the 25% deposit--will be given as a store credit.  No refunds will be given.

Contact us to arrange a layaway purchase.

THE PRICE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE IS THE FINAL PRICE, EVEN IF THE ITEM IS SUBSEQUENTLY SUBJECT TO A PRICE REDUCTION OR INCREASE.

Discounts

Many people expect us to give them a discount...

We realize that many Native Art dealers have a practice of marking up their prices so that they can offer a discount.   This often makes people feel that they are getting a good deal.  Pueblo Arts does not play that game, and practices integrity and truthfulness in its pricing practices.  We offer quality art at a fair price.   Period.  You never have to guess at the "real price" or wonder if you have bargained hard enough.  And...since we don't charge for shipping within the Continental US, you have already got a built-in discount!
